Right now you are being formed in your spirit. How you are being formed will depend on where you are looking. At Northside, we believe the central purpose of life is to look to Jesus and be formed by him.
This is the life of Christian spiritual formation. This formation then shapes everything else. In other words, change is possible. Deep, long lasting change for good. You are invited into that change.
FOLLOW 2ND EDITION
Genuine long-lasting change for good is possible and Jesus makes this way of life available. This is the life of discipleship which grounds everything. We have developed a book and course to help individuals and groups experience this. More info.
THE LESS RHYTHM
At Northside, we have a rhythm we call LESS. Lectio. Examen. See. Shalom. One of the things we think makes Northside unique is the emphasis on each of these four key areas of practice. It is possible to have one or two without the others, but it will result in a walk that is lopsided — more of a limp.
Lectio. We encounter God as we listen to Scripture not merely for information but for transformation.
Examen. We notice how God is acting in life as we watch in prayer.
See. We discern how the Spirit of God is active in our contexts so that we can join in what God is already doing.
Shalom. We participate in God’s overarching plan for the reconciliation of all things.
THE JOY JOURNAL
The LESS rhythm forms part of Northside’s overarching porject to be a community shaped by joy. Joy is the all-immersive experience of good. As we engage in the LESS rhythm we expect to grow in our understanding of and experience in our Good God who gives Good News about Good Life. The Joy Journal is a tool that aids you in engaging in the LESS rhythm.
